Our website address is: https://aklanons.com. We operate this web platform and the associated Aklanons iOS and Android mobile applications to provide a community space, educational courses, and social features for our members.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information strictly to provide, secure, and improve our platform. Aklanons.com deeply values your privacy, and we do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data.
- Account & Profile Data: To access the majority of the information and community features on Aklanons.com, users must create an account and sign in. Certain blog posts are available to the general public.
- Mobile App Data: Our iOS and Android applications require specific device permissions to function correctly. When using the app, we request access to your device’s camera and photo library (e.g., for uploading profile pictures), location services, and microphone. We also collect device tokens to send push notifications to active app users.
- Educational Data: For users participating in taking courses or other educational modules, we collect quiz results, exam keys, and course progress. We use this data solely for your instructors to track progress, and we never share it with third parties.
- Comments & Media: When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and the browser user agent string to help detect spam. We may provide an anonymized string created from your email address (hash) to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it (their privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/). If you upload images, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors can download and extract it.
- Technical, Analytics & Security Data: Our Cloudways server logs and Cloudflare infrastructure collect IP addresses and browser data for security purposes, crash reporting, and transient cleanup. We also track general user activity, gamification metrics, and SMTP routing to monitor platform health, engagement, and security.
3. Community Features, Messaging, and Content
- User-Generated Content: You retain full copyright ownership of any content, images, or media you upload to your profile or community groups. By uploading this content, you grant Aklanons.com a license to display it on the platform.
- Direct Messaging: Aklanons.com offers direct messaging between members. Private messages are stored on our servers but are not proactively monitored by administrators. However, if we receive complaints, administrators will investigate the issue with the involved parties and, if applicable, report the incident to the appropriate entities. Aklanons.com strictly prohibits fraudulent activity, criminal activity, hacking, bullying, or any other forms of illegal activity.
- Promotions & Voluntary Assistance: We do not collect payments from members for community initiatives. We occasionally run independent promotions that provide voluntary assistance to members or their families.
4. Cookies
- Comments & Convenience: If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for one year so you do not have to fill in your details again.
- Login & Session: If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies (this contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser). When you log in, we set several cookies to save your login information (lasts two days) and your screen display choices (lasts one year). If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies are removed.
- Publishing: If you edit or publish an article, we save an additional cookie in your browser indicating the post ID. It includes no personal data and expires after 1 day.
5. Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves the same way as if the visitor visited the other website. 6. Children’s Privacy
Aklanons.com restricts registration to individuals aged 15 and below. We do not allow children under 15 to join the platform, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. We actively moderate all content on the platform to ensure a safe environment. Parents are responsible for their children registering or using their accounts. Our registration page clearly asks questions that are clearly not for ages below 15. It asks for their highest education attainment, their best skills and experience, profession, a company supporting Aklanons, and a website if available. Although they are optional, parents and guardians must not allow a child to register. Although we maintain a clean platform suitable for all ages, we reserve the right to deny children access to Aklanons.com.
7. Data Retention & Your Rights
- Retention: If you leave a comment, we retain the comment and its metadata indefinitely unless we update it so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. For registered users, we store the personal information you provide in your profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (usernames cannot be changed). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
- Export and Download: If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. Members may easily download their data directly by navigating to their user profile. This feature is available on both the web platform and the mobile applications.
- Complete Deletion: You have the right to erase any personal data we hold about you. Users can delete their account and all associated data by navigating to their user profile on the web platform or in the mobile applications. When we process an account deletion, our system completely and permanently deletes all your data. This includes your user profile, forum posts, direct messages, and educational course progress. Note: This does not include any data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our platform, technology, or legal requirements. We will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy accordingly. Continued use of the platform after updates indicates your acceptance of the revised policy. You are responsible for checking the privacy policy for changes and updates.
9. International Data Transfers
Aklanons.com operates globally, and our server infrastructure (including Cloudways, Amazon AWS, and Cloudflare) may route, store, or process your information on servers located outside your country of residence. By registering for an account and using our platform or mobile applications, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data across international borders in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
